About Sean Ashford

Sean AshfordOn Friday July 27, 2012 Dallas lost one of its most beloved music industry veterans Sean Ashford, age 43, in a tragic motorcycle accident.

Sean Ashford was born on the 28th of March, 1969 in San Antonio, Texas. Sean is survived by his mother, Mary Larke Godfrey; stepfather, Hollis Godfrey; sister, Ashley Godfrey; father, Michael Ashford; uncle, Ernest Paul Pewitt; aunt, Myra Pewitt; cousins, Meredith and Morgan Pewitt; and several aunts, uncles and cousins of the Campbell family.

After graduating from Winston School in Dallas, Sean quickly moved to Denver, CO and then Austin, TX where he started his career in the music industry working for various venues and clubs. His love for music blossomed; he knew he found his calling. He then returned to his roots in Dallas and quickly became a prominent figure in the music industry.

Sean worked as the booking agent and production manager for the world-famous Bronco Bowl and produced concerts with some of the world's top musicians such as, Oasis, Smashing Pumpkins, Coldplay, Bonnie Raitt, Don Henley, Patti LaBelle and Snoop Dogg to name a few. For the past 10 years, Sean has served as the Vice President, Special Event Insurance for Doodson Insurance Brokers, the world's largest music insurance broker.

Sean's passion for music was clearly evident as he would go to any length to experience live music. He reveled in catching the best music the city had to offer each week, most often from the side of the stage or front row, as he was a master of attaining the best ticket in town. He was certainly known as one of the kings of the Dallas music scene.

Overshadowing his love for music, however, was Sean's love for his friends and family. He could often be found on long motorcycle rides with his stepfather and best pal, Hollis, or hanging out and enjoying time with his amazing mother, Mary Larke and sister, Ashley or "kicking it" with his friends in Deep Ellum. His smile, laugh, and contagious energy never went unnoticed. His loyal, sensitive, compassionate and caring spirit was felt and will be missed by all who knew him. Sean wore his heart on his sleeve, lived life to the fullest, and was beloved by all that came in contact with him.

Through his years in the music business, Sean had amassed one of the city's largest, prized rock and roll memorabilia collections. This collection will be auctioned and all of the proceeds will be used to create The Ashford Music Fund, an organization in his honor, which will support youth music development throughout Texas.
